Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.” Daniel 1:12

“In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.” -——Daniel 10:2, 3

More and more Christian men and women are choosing the Daniel Fast as their guideline to enter into the spiritual discipline. This blog is designed as a “gathering place” for information and resources about the Daniel Fast to serve those seeking God in this manner. Please “cruise” the blog. Remember, this is a blog format, so you will need to page down to see all the posts. Also, leave comments if you have ideas, questions, or comments.

    Hello Susan,
I so appreciate your information about the Daniel Fast. I started the fast at sundown 8 days ago, & have been amazed at how easily I’ve “taken” to the plan – especially considering my addictions to sugar & caffeine. And I’m constantly thanking God for this blessing! One problem I’m experiencing is extreme bloating. I drink plenty of water, & I’ve lost over 4 pounds in this time, but I’m very uncomfortably bloating. Until I read the blog this evening I was drinking one glass of juice with protein powder each day, but I will now discontinue that. Your thoughts please?

The two foundational scriptures for the fast are Daniel 1:12 says, “Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.” Pulse is food grown from seed . . . (corn, potatoes, wheat, rice and the like are all considered grown from seed). And, Dan. 10:3 – I ate no pleasant or desirable food, nor did any meat or wine come into my mouth; …Because of this, we eat no sweeteners of any kind, no deep fried foods and no fancy desserts. We also don’t use any stimulants such as “caffeine” or alcohol and “water is the only drinking beverage”.
So then, the Daniel Fast is a type of fast based on the combined fasting experiences of the prophet Along with typical Jewish fasting principles. To be clear, we are not trying to “re-enact” the prophet’s fast/time of mourning, but rather use the experiences to serve as guidelines for a partial fast that can be experienced by people today. Giving up foods, submitting our fleshly cravings, and experiencing all those emotions and challenges is part of the fast. If we are merely substituting “yummy foods” for other “yummy foods” then we can miss the powerful lessons and the growth. On the other hand, the purpose of the Daniel Fast is much more than “to not enjoy food.” Otherwise we would all be eating some tasteless mush! As a reminder, the definition of fasting is to restrict food for a spiritual purpose, and is an experience for the whole person – body, soul and spirit. Also, one thing to keep in mind is that while all foods on the Daniel Fast are natural . . . not all natural foods are acceptable. “Honey” for example is one of those, although natural it is still a sweetener and not allowed on the fast. I hope this helps, Be Blessed on your Journey!

I have been trying to find a tofu that doesn’t have any chemicals or preservatives. It seems like every brand of tofu (even in the health food store) has calcium sulfate. I am assuming that is not acceptable under the Daniel Fast? Many also have calcium chloride which I know you have suggested to stay away from. If calcium sulfate is not acceptable, can you provide a brand that is preservative/chemical free?

    September 19, 2012
    • Daniel Fast Team #

      Hi Kathryn,
A couple of brands that have good ingredients are Azumaya and Trader Joe’s brand – they are organic, so that earns an edge in my book. Both had only water, soybeans and either Calcium sulfate ( allowed, but not preferred) or Magnesium chloride (a natural salt, allowed and preferred) as ingredients, with no additives or preservatives. (Re: Calcium Chloride this is also one of those “allowed but not preferred”.. “whenever possible try to find options that don’t include these, however there are those times that you just can’t so remember they are allowed, just not preferred”). I hope this helps!

Good afternoon Susan! I started the fast today and had just a few questions. Are the following food acceptable; spaghetti and spaghetti sauce, tortillas, any peanut butter or only the kind with only peanuts for ingredients? I look forward to trying all the recipes and spending the next 21 days very close with the Lord. I have a few very specific goals and number one is my relationship with Jesus Christ. Thank you do much for the book and the website and I look forward to hearing back!

      Hi Sarah,
Yes, Pasta’s are fine, just make sure that they are whole grain, with no eggs and free of sweeteners and additives. Spaghetti sauces are also allowed, you’ll have to read the Ingredients list for Daniel Fast friendly ingredients. You can have whole grain tortillas (flour and corn) that are free of sweeteners, additives and of course leavening agents-yeast, baking soda/powder. A good peanut butter should have as its ONLY Ingredients: Peanuts….and maybe some salt. Adams 100% Natural Peanut Butter is one that we can recommend. Be Blessed on your fast!

Hi why do I feel drowsy during fasting?

    September 16, 2012
    • Daniel Fast Team #

      Hi Miriam,
If you are eating a well banlanced diet with plenty of protein, iron and nutrient rich foods, then it sounds like your body is more than likely going through the detox process from caffeine, sugar and/or chemicals. These symptoms (headaches, fatigue, cramps, joint pain to name a few) will pass in a few days (3-7) or more. The more extreme the buildup of the toxins in your body, the more extreme your symptoms and length of time to complete your detox. Meanwhile, flushing your system with water will ease your discomfort and speed up the detox process. As a general guideline, your body needs half its body weight in ounces of water per day, ie: 160lbs = 80 oz. of water daily. Add to that amount if you are experiencing any extreme conditions such as exposure to warm weather, cold weather, physical exercise or Detox. So, drink lot’s of Water, water, water! Also, pay close attention to your protein intake and eat plenty of Protein Rich Foods: All Nuts and Peanut butter (any nut butters), Whole grains, Legumes and Leafy Dark Green Vegetables, to learn more go to: http://vegetarian.about.com/od/healthnutrition/tp/protein.htm I hope this helps, Be Blessed in your Fast!

Can I use italian dressing on my salad?

    September 13, 2012
    • Daniel Fast Team #

      Hi Brian,
The problem with prepared dressings is that it is hard to find one that is free of additives and sweeteners, so check the Ingredients list on the one you’re considering. A prepared dressing that fits the Daniel Fast is Newman’s Own Oil and Vinegar Salad Dressing. You can also make your own salad dressings and there are many recipes in the Daniel Fast Cookbooks http://www.daniel-fast.com I hope this helps!

      Hi Precious,
Increase your water intake. This sounds like your body is going through the detox process (from caffeine, sugar and/or chemicals). These symptoms (headaches, fatigue, cramps, joint pain to name a few) will pass in a few days (3-7) or more. The more extreme the buildup of the toxins in your body, the more extreme your symptoms and length of time to complete your detox. Im on day three of the Daniel Fast. Can I eat seitan?

    September 13, 2012
    • Daniel Fast Team #

Yes, Seitan would all be acceptable since it is a vegetable based product similar to tofu. For those who are reading this and don’t know about Seitan, it is similar to tofu except that it is wheat based. It’s bland on it’s own, but like tofu acts like a sponge to the foods it is being cooked with and soaks up the flavors. Be Blessed!

But, You must be intentional on your protein intake, and you can get plenty of protein in nuts, peanut butter (any nut butter), Whole grains, legumes and leafy green vegetables, also some will add in unsweetened soy (or any plant based) protein powder into a ‘smoothie’ meal (make sure all other ingredients comply with the Daniel Fast and watch out for sweeteners, chemical additives whey)…and make sure you are drinking Lot’s of water. There is no official Daniel Fast dates on this site. However, you will hear alot about an annual January-February Daniel Fast, because this is when many churches choose to start their ‘Corporate’ church fast as a body. If your church is not planning a corporate fast and you want to join in at this time of mass corporate fast (knowing that you are joining the collective body) you can start January 1st or stay tuned for blogs that come through with their start dates. Hi! I was just wondering if you could pray for me as I am planning to begin this fast Sunday and continue for 40 days until the presidential election. I haven’t been able to find anyone to fast with me, so I need the support you offer to help me stay focused. (Although my husband fasted and prayed for our children for one meal last Sunday, bless his heart!) I had fasted successfully for 23 days ten years ago and the Holy Spirit drew closer to me than I had ever thought possible! Unfortunately I have not been able to discipline myself to fast for an extended amount of time since then and I miss Him greatly. I am sure He misses me too. I long for His presence, and I need to intercede on behalf of my ex-husband, children, and extended family so that they will have the strength and desire to win the battles between the flesh and the spirit, as their souls may be at stake. I had read Jentezen Franklin’s two books which were very, very informative as to the “why” to fast, but I am grateful that your book is helping me to see “how” to do it. I am both reading the paperback and listening to the cd for reinforcement. I had not been able to be successful for longer than a few days and became very discouraged, especially since after I “failed” I would sometimes eat like a pig for a few days and undo any good results. My family thinks I’m “setting too high a standard” and should just give up fasting and “enjoy life!” But I can’t because I know God is calling me to exercise self-sacrifice and discipline so I can be filled with His love, power, and the knowledge of His will. I plan to get up an hour earlier to either go on a “Prayer walk” or do Bible-reading and prayer on the stepper. I have already set the alarm on my phone for 3 times a day to stop and pray like Daniel. I plan to cut out sugar, caffeine and eating more than I need this week to prepare. I printed out your meal plan and will shop and prepare some meals in advance. I do not want to fail again. Thank you for your prayers and suport.

      Hi Alysia,
God isn’t looking for perfection, just hearts that are hungering for more of Him! When you seek God through fasting and prayer you are posturing yourself to hear and receive from the throne All He has for you! Through this time of agreement, separation from the world and drawing close to Him, you will never be the same. God is going to do great things in you and through you, you just keep your eyes on Him, and watch what He will do on your behalf! Standing firm on His word for you and with you! Jer. 29:11 BE BLESSED!

Hi Susan. Is dried fruits ok? Had brown rice with raisins & cinnamon yesterday for flavoring and would like to have oatmill porridge with raisins & cinnamon. Also, is canned fruit ok in their own juices such as crushed pineapple? Had it today on a whole grain flat bread with coconut oil spread on it for breakfast. Unfortunenately, the only flat bread I could find had baking soda in it but no baking powder. Went today & bought some ancient grains. Going to try out this wheat grinder I got a while back, to make my own flat bread so that it will be just as you have been mentioning.

I am confused why you can have soy, almond, or plant based milk in a smoothie, but is not allowed to drink alone. Also, is not a smoothie, a beverage. Also, one of the suggested contents in a smoothie is orange juice, which again, cannot be consumed, alone.
I have checked the ingredients on Morning Star veggie burgers and sausage, both contain egg whites, which I know is not allowed.

    September 7, 2012
    • Daniel Fast Team #

      Hi Rick,
Yes, blended smoothies can be a “grey area” ….. ‘smoothies are allowed when used as a liquid meal’….when you drink it as a meal (meal replacement – and not as a snack, dessert or refreshment). With the bulk of the smoothie being fruit and vegetables (blended) and a splash of the mentioned liquids being added for consistency. With that said, all “unsweetened”, “additive free” juices and plant based milks (Almond, Rice, Soy, Coconut, etc.,) are fine on the fast… “again, for use in recipes and/or on cereal”, But not as a drinking beverage (water is the only beverage on the fast). I hope this helps to clarify, Be Blessed!

Susan, I am on my 19 day of my fast. I can truly say that I am stronger in spirit and my spirit is stronger than the soul. I have been reading the scriptures, meditating, and praying. However, it seems that an opposite effect is happening. Everything I’ve prayed for is worse than before. Problems I didn’t have I have two fold. Major appliances are breaking one afer another, I got hit with a huge IRS bill, and my prayers for understanding in my marriage have been answered with facts of my husbands hidden issues. All this has occurred just since I started the fast. Coincidence? Now I pray to understand why the lord is opening my eyes to make me want to leave my husband. I’m starting to feel like maybe we shouldn’t be praying for our needs so boldly because the opposite is happening. I’m a little disappointed in my experience.

    • Daniel Fast Team #

      Hi Cami,
It is quite normal, and can almost to be expected that when one enters into a fast that ‘stuff’ will get stirred up on all fronts. The enemy of our soul hates it when we fast (seperating ourselves from the world to draw close to God) So, he does what we call a counter attack or a backlash. Be encouraged, this is his bluff to get you to back off. Also, learn to discern the things of the spirit, and read between the lines. When this stuff starts to surface, that should be your first encouragement that you are right on target and accomplishing much in the spirit realm, or he wouldn’t be working so hard to distract you! Also, all these things that you mentioned, financial problems, relationship issues etc., then the enemy takes advantage to pile on anything else eo discourage. Remember, these didn’t just start to happen when you began to fast. They were there all along, hidden, and now are being forced to the surface for exposure, now they can be dealt with, once and for all. Painful stuff, yes, but not near as painful as co-existing with them! Rejoice, God is faithful to deliver, to you and your family! 2 Thessalonians 3:13 – “And as for you, brethren, do not become weary or lose heart in doing right [but continue in well-doing without weakening].”
Be strong and courageous, be bold and declare God’s word over you and your family…If God be for you, Who can be against you? No weapon formed against you can prosper, and every tongue that rises in judgement against you, you will condemn, This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me, says the LORD! Be Blessed dear one!

    Hi,
Do have any suggestions on how to maintain weight while on the Daniel fast? My friend lost on average 6lbs per week the last time we did the fast and struggled to regain her weight. She is athletic / fit and has little if any excess body fat. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    September 5, 2012
    • Daniel Fast Team #

      Hi Dale,
The Daniel Fast is a very healthy way to eat, although it is normal for people to lose a few pounds while on the fast, it is not do to a lack of food. We advise 3 moderate meals with 2 small snacks per day. Weight loss on the fast is usually directly connected to the removal of sugar, sweeteners, basically “simple carbohydrates”, All of which are NOT allowed on the fast. However, you do not have to lose weight on the fast if you do not want to. As you know, maintaining healthy body weight is a combination of Caloric intake (eating three moderate meals with two snacks per day), exercise, accurate water intake and restorative sleep. You will want to pay specific attention to these areas, as well as be sure to monitor your protein intake (Nuts and Peanut butter, Whole grains, Legumes (beans) and Leafy Green Vegetables). And, Drink Lots of Water! As a general guideline, your body needs half its body weight in ounces of water per day, i.e.: 160lbs = 80 oz. of water daily. I hope this helps, Be Blessed in your Fast!

  25. In my bible it says a Daniel fast is vegetables and water. Where does it talk about grains, fruits, nuts and oils?

    August 26, 2012
    • Daniel Fast Team #

      Hi Cindy,
The two foundational scriptures for the fast are Daniel 1:12 says, “Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.” Pulse is food grown from seed . . . corn, potatoes, wheat, rice and the like are all considered grown from seed.
Dan. 10:3 – I ate no pleasant or desirable food, nor did any meat or wine come into my mouth; …Because of this, we eat no sweeteners of any kind, no deep fried foods and no fancy desserts. We also don’t use any stimulants such as caffeine or alcohol and water is the only drinking beverage.
So then, the Daniel Fast is a type of fast based on the combined fasting experiences of the prophet Along with typical Jewish fasting principles. To be clear, we are not trying to “reenact” the prophet’s fast/time of mourning, but rather use the experiences to serve as guidelines for a partial fast that can be experienced by people today. Unlike traditional fasting where disciplines must focus on denying all food intake, the Daniel Fast disciplines must be exercised on denying specific foods only, as well as eating the right foods (which for most of us is a whole “new” world of discipline). As a reminder, the definition of fasting is to restrict food for a spiritual purpose, and is an experience for the whole person – body, soul and spirit. Also, one thing to keep in mind is that while all foods on the Daniel Fast are natural . . . not all natural foods are acceptable. Honey for example is one of those, although natural it is still a sweetener and not allowed on the fast.
I encourage you to study the information on this blog and at http://www.Daniel-Fast.com as there is a wealth of information about the Daniel Fast. You may then even consider going into a deeper study about the Daniel Fast. If you are interested you might want to get a copy of The Daniel Fast where I go into great depth about fasting and the Daniel Fast in particular. I hope this helps!

      Hi Amanda,
I don’t know what your current amount of time in the word and in prayer looks like…But I would encourage you to increase it. Increase your time with the Lord as never before, get up a little earlier before “your day” begins, take breaks throughout your day with Bible in hand just to keep the word ever before your eyes, then back to “your day” you go!
Proverbs 3:4-6 And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man. Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths! God has a plan for your life, and it’s a good plan one that is worth spending this time pressing into Him and seeking Him as never before! But do continue to be diligent and a “good steward” of your daily responsibilities! Sometimes the things we are doing has the feeling of not “getting us anywhere”…. However, what is truly being accomplished may very well be “The Preparation” of what is coming next!
God is preparing you….for what He has “prepared for you”! So press in dear sister! Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Cheerios are not allowed because even though they are listed as a Multi grain, what you’re looking for is a Whole grain, or a Whole Multi grain. And then also, they have sugar in them. Some other options would be: Muesli, also for boxed cereals are the Ezekiel brands and some varieties of Shredded Wheat, ex: http://www.arrowheadmills.com/product/shredded-wheat-cereal There are several others found in the Natural Foods section of grocery stores or at Health Food stores (but you’ll have to make sure they are sweetener free), and then there is always good Old Fashioned Oatmeal. I hope this helps, Be Blessed in your Journey!

What are people on the Daniel Fast putting on/in their cereal? Is it the Soy or Coconut or Rice Milk? Is that allowed or are these liquids only for use in cooked foods? Can we use these milks in our Oatmeal and are we allowed to use Quick Oatmeal?

        October 3, 2012
      • Daniel Fast Team #

For cereal: All “plant based milks” (Almond, Rice, Soy, Coconut, etc.) are acceptable on the fast, for use in recipes And on cereal (water is the only drinking beverage allowed). Just make sure they are sweetener and chemical free. Oatmeal: You can pile on top fruit (bananas, raisins, craisins, fresh/frozen berries, canned peaches – watch for added sweeteners and additives) and nuts to add plenty of flavor and additional fiber and protein, and if desired some unsweetened additive free plant based milk (soy, almond, rice, coconut, etc.) I hope this helps, Be Blessed!

      Hi Erica,
Good Old fashioned Oatmeal, or any other favorite whole grains available in Brazil can be used as a breakfast. For boxed cereals, I am not sure what you have available in your local grocery store, but you will need to read the Ingredients list to make sure they comply with the Daniel Fast. With these options, you can pile on top fruits, nuts, and unsweetened plant based milks, (soy, almond, coconut or rice, etc.). Another of our family favorite breakfast is a burrito wrap, made with beans/rice/onions/peppers and spices. These can be prepared in advance, store in the refrigerator and quickly reheated in the morning. I hope this helps, Be blessed!

Can you eat Dreamfields pasta on the daniel fast? The ingredients are:
    Enriched Semolina, [Semolina, Iron (Ferrous
Sulfate), and B Vitamins (Niacin, Thiamine,
    Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid)], Inulin
    (Vegetable Fiber), Wheat Gluten (Plant
Protein), Xanthan Gum (Food Fiber), Pectin
    (Fruit Fiber), Potassium Chloride.
    CONTAINS WHEAT INGREDIENTS

    August 23, 2012
    • Daniel Fast Team #

      Hi Nicole,
Remember you are looking for whole grain flours in all your foods. Semolina is a processed flour that the bran and germ have been removed leaving the starchy endosperm, so it’s not allowed on the Daniel Fast (so you’ll need to pass on Dreamfields pasta). Durum wheat, is a whole grain (possibly unfamiliar term) you’ll find alot in pasta ingredients list. Even though 100 percent durum wheat it isn’t as dark of a color as something labeled “whole wheat,” but it actually is a coarsely ground whole grain, so it’s allowed on the fast. I hope this helps, Be Blessed on your Fast!

    Hi,
I saw a post recently that asked about eating hot water corn bread. I wonder if the ingredients are allowed because although yeast is not used, baking soda and baking powder are used. Can you clarify?
    Thanks

    • Daniel Fast Team #

      Hi Anita,
Baking soda and baking powder are both leavening agents so they would need to be left out of the ingredients for hot water corn bread. Thank you for questioning this, Be Blessed!

no problem Anita, i just made some yesterday, make sure you get the yellow corn meal from Quaker add a little salt and pepper cut up some onion or add onion powder ( that gives it a great taste) add the HOT WATER a little at a time stir until you can make it in to a patty that will not fall apart, make sure your oil is nice and hot ( you do not need a lot, just to cover the pan) add the cornmeal and cook it on the one side until brown and then turn it over carefully cook til brown.
a small bowl should make 4
(you know you can also eat whole wheat matzo)
when you are not on the Daniel fast you can add a egg and that will help hold it together. enjoy.

I’m not clear about the Daniel Fast, does it mean i do eat food during the fast but only vegetables? Or I don’t eat @all till the designated time ie eg 6-6 or 8-8?? I’m asking this because some people say it’s only a partial fast.

    August 13, 2012
    • Daniel Fast Team #

      Hi Nelly,
The Daniel Fast is totally plant-based partial fast. Many people who are not able to go on a water – or liquid-only fast are able to enter into the powerful experience of prayer and fasting using the Daniel Fast. Because you are eating food, it is referred to as a partial fast. But you are also restricting certain foods at the same time. The two foundational scriptures for the fast are: Daniel 1:12 “Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.” Pulse is food grown from seed . . . corn, potatoes, wheat, rice, fruit and the like are all considered grown from seed. (Water only, no dairy/meat). Dan. 10:3 – I ate no pleasant or desirable food, nor did any meat or wine come into my mouth; and I did not anoint myself at all for the full three weeks. Because of this, we eat no sweeteners of any kind, no deep fried foods and no fancy desserts. We also don’t use any stimulants such as caffeine or alcohol.
Finally, we look to the typical Jewish fasting principles. This primarily impacts leavening – so no yeast breads or foods with leavening are allowed. Unlike traditional fasting where disciplines focus on denying all food intake, the Daniel Fast disciplines are on denying specific foods only.
There is no designated time of day to eat or not eat. We do suggest three moderate meals per day with two healthy snacks included, seven days a week, selected from all the foods available on the fast for balance. If you don’t already have one you can order a copy of the Daniel Fast Guidelines by going to http://www.daniel-fast.com and enter your email address, they will be emailed back to you, this is a great resource to have on hand while on your fast. I hope this helps, Be Blessed in your Journey!

Hi Susan, I bought your book last week, I and my husband start the fast this past Monday and I have several questions:
Tea is not allowed on this, but for example, I used to make my own tea from natural ginger and cinnamon, I added sugar of course on regular tea. But, can I do the same without the sugar?
Another questions, we are eating green plantain for breakfast, is there any butter or margarine that we can use? I am using olive oil now.
    Thank you

    August 8, 2012
    • Daniel Fast Team #

      Hi Dulce,
Correct, water is the only beverage on the Daniel Fast is water (so, no tea of any kind). You can have slices of lemon in your water, the key here is as long as you can in all honesty call the beverage water, then you are fine . . .
I use olive oil, but some people do use the Soy based Earth Balance, it is fine for the fast You can check it out here: http://www.earthbalancenatural.com/ Be blessed on your fast!

    The Daniel Fast: Its Purpose
While the Daniel Fast is cleansing your body by omitting certain foods for a limited time, the deeper and
true basis of intent is for spiritual connection. The purpose of Christian fasting is to seek a more intimate relationship with God while ridding your physical body of unnatural, self-gratifying food and drink. Your focus is to be on God, not on the fleshly things of the world. Too often, the focus of fasting is on the lack of food. Instead, the purpose of fasting should be to take your eyes off the things of this world to focus completely on God.

During the Daniel Fast you will want to concentrate on prayer, Bible study, and reflection. The Daniel Fast is a great way to enter into preparation for growing in the Lord.

Is it ok to let others know I’m fasting? For instance, my job will be holding a staff luncheon soon and they cater food for us. I will more than likely not be able to eat what they provide and I’m sure co-workers will notice and ask questions. Is it ok to say I’m fasting for religious reasons? Or is this supposed to be kept private?

    July 31, 2012
    • Daniel Fast Team #

      Hi Lisa,
Yes, Fasting is a very personal time between you and the Lord. This is a time that you Need to be led by the Holy Spirit as to when and how to answer those who question why you are not eating the foods catered. If there is salad and fruit, just have a large serving of those, most wouldn’t even notice what as long as you have a plate of something. However, if you know that there will be nothing there for you to eat, take your own lunch and as descretely as possibly join your co-workers. If asked, just simply tell them you are doing a natural cleanse with whole foods and leave it at that, if they ask for more details share the natural side. And then when the Holy Spirit leads add to that information the spiritual side of your fast. Keep in mind that although fasting is a very intimate time seeking God, it can also be a time of great inspiration and encouragement to others, so don’t be so secretive that you miss out on any opportunity that the Holy Spirit is wanting to work in and through you! Be Blessed on your Journey!
