Hi Emily,

Yes, soy sauce is allowed as long as the ingredients are consistent with the Daniel Fast (no sweeteners, no chemicals). Fermentation doesn't necessarily mean alcohol (i.e. cheese is fermented), yet alcohol is not allowed.

I hope this helps.

Hi Samantha,

Yes, you can have popcorn. But you will want to make sure it's prepared only with oil and not any chemicals. I use an air popper or pop the corn in a pan with a small amount of vegetable oil.

Hi Jodi,

I encourage people to use filtered tap water (at a minimum) and alkaline water (for the best). You can make alkaline water yourself by adding certain salts to distilled water. Gypsum, baking soda, regular table salt, and/or chalk all work to increase pH in solution.

What kind of water is best? I know tap water is not good but many bottled waters are enhanced with minerals for flavor. Are these minerals considered chemicals?

Hello,

I was wondering if soy sauce is permitted on the daniel fast. I know that it says "soy products," but soy sauce is fermented which by definition means that it contains alcohol.

Thanks,
Emily

Hi Rana,
I'm a veteran at Daniel's Fast, it has been a blessing to my life, both spiritually and physically. This fast allows me to focus on praying and reading the bible, plus I have no allergies and my constant flu like symptoms have disappear, as well as my heartburn and reflux. Another one? God has set me free of my food addictions, ALL OF THEM. And I have never been overweight, just thought that I NEEDED some foods to survive.
About the headache, in the fast you get rid of ALL the toxins in your body, which is VERY healthful, and this will make you feel more energized, light, focused, will got you allergy and flu free (actually many diseases’) , etc. but before you start feeling better you can feel worst. This because all the toxins are finding their way out of your system (on your sweat, blood, urine, etc.), so in the first days you could feel really bad, your body is experiencing detoxification (just like alcoholics when they are in rehab). The good news is that this will pass and you will be left with a healthier, toxins free body, another advantage of this fast.
On your back pain, drink plenty of water, your kidneys are working extra hard to flush the toxins out. The extra water will also help on the pain on your legs, toxins makes your body to retain water so extra water will make them leave your body extra fast. Eating raw fruit and vegetables gives your body part of the water and if you have a juicer, try this: spinach, celery, cucumber and lemon. The high amounts of chlorophyll in this vegetables are natural cleansers and detoxifiers, this is the highway to feel better.
I strongly suggest you to fight back the urgency to drink tea, not only will it make you stronger but will also free you from this "must have" on your life. This is how we can see any addiction on food.
I hope this is helpful, God bless you.

Hello Taylor,

Yes, whole wheat is allowed on the Daniel Fast as are all whole grains. However, leavening is not allowed. So only flat breads can be consumed during the Daniel Fast. You can easily make flat bread with whole wheat flour, a little oil and some water. You can find a recipe in the Daniel Fast Cookbook - Version II at www.Daniel-Fast.com

I hope this helps!

Good morning Beth,

Yes, yes and yes to all your questions. However, I do encourage you to try to use natural remedies and prevention in the cases of your need of Tylenol and the others. One sure thing is to taper off caffeine before the fast and also drink plenty of filtered water (at least 1/2 gallon each day).

Be blessed on your fast.

HI Gina,

I love basmati rice, however it is not allowed on the Daniel Fast since it is not a whole grain. The germ has been removed which is the most nutritious part of the grain. Instead, I use short grain brown rice during the fast.

Be blessed!
