Hi Micheal,
The books are PDF formats, but if you don’t have access to your own printer, we can make arrangments. There would be an additional postage and handling charge, but it’s all possible to get you a copy. Please send an email to DanielFast@LackAttack.com and we can make special arrangments.

I have been on the daniel fast for 6 years and as a church our pastor encourages everyone to go on the daniel fast at the begin of January. I am interested in the book you have available, cause some time we don’t know what we can eat and not and how to prepare our food.

I Would like to really know what the Daniel fast consist of. Everybody has a
different version.
Susan Gregory said,
January 14, 2008 at 5:32 pm
Hello Helen,
There is a lot of room for interpretation in the Daniel Fast. It is based on Chapters 1 and 10 in the Book of Daniel. In the first recorded fast, he ate only vegetables and drank only water. In the second recorded fast, he ate no meat, at no pleasant breads or delicate foods, and drank no wine for 21 days.
This is what serves as the model. From there people have developed the 21-day partial fast over the years. I try to use these verses, Jewish dietary law, and other examples of fasting to support everything I write, along with the Holy Spirit Who is an excellent “editor.” My goal is to present a Daniel Fast that has integrity, is true to Scripture, and respects the discipline of biblical fasting.
I hope this helps.
Bless you on your fast.

Hi Susan,
I saw on the site that for Dec and Jan you are adding updates to the cookbook. I would love to get those. I just signed up for a paypal account however, and can’t access my account for a few days. This puts me into Feb. Is there anyway I will still be able to get those updates?
Susan Gregory said,

Hi Kirstine,
Yes, you will receive the same updates . . . just within the first week of your purchase.
Blessings to you!

Is this a three meal a day fast or can you snack on fruits or vegies between meals?
Susan Gregory said,
February 5, 2008 at 1:01 pm
Hi Donna,
There are no boundaries as to the number of meals, hours of eating (on some fasts eating is restricted to after sundown), or amount of food. It has to do with the types of food . . . however, gluttony is against the will of God, so balancing the amount we eat is something we always want to do.
I hope this helps and blessings to you on your fast!

Hi Susan,
. I just downloaded both books & can’t wait to print them both and get started. I just know God’s up to something and, though I know it won’t be the easiest process, I can’t wait to experience all that is to come & be revealed. I have a quick question re: the cookbook. You post mentioned follow-up recipes through the month of January and I’m curious if the version I have has been updated with them and if not is it possible to get them mailed to me. I’m not sure how much info you need so I can forward you my receipt ID if necessary. Thanks a bunch for this website & your obedience
I’m so thankful & EXCITED that I found this site- actually more like lead to it

1. IS IT OK TO EAT BROWN RICE, PLANTAIN, COCONUT & THE FRESH YAM? 2. NATURAL 100% JUICES— THESE ARE UNAVAILABLE, I COULD ONLY GET SUGAR FREE, 100% JUICE: CRANBERRY, APPLE JUICE; ORANGE JUICE IS NOT NATURAL 100% AS WELL.
MAYBE I AM LOOKING AT THE WRONG FOOD STORES / MARKETS FOR THEM. THANK YOU & GOD BLESS.
Susan Gregory said,
February 17, 2008 at 2:45 pm
Hi Floaa,
Brown rice, plantain, coconut and fresh yams are all excellent foods for the Daniel Fast. Juices are okay on the Daniel Fast, but many people, including me, stick with water only for a beverage.
If you really want juice, I suggest you either make your own or purchase it in the Natural Food section of your grocery store. You can also find good quality juices in Health Food Stores. When you READ THE LABELS, make sure you read the ingredients and not the nutritional value for content. I find many sugar-free and chemical-free juices in my grocery store.
I hope this helps. Blessings to you on your fast.

Hi thank you for responding so quickly, I read the ingredients and all that’s in there is whote wheat, evaporated cane juice, and natural flavor. Is the cane juice ok or is that considered a sweetener?
Susan Gregory said,
April 21, 2008 at 9:01 am
Oops!
Sorry Ember. Cane juice is actually liquid sugar. It’s the stage before granulation takes place . . . that would make the Kashi off the Daniel Fast acceptable list.
My favorite breakfast for the Daniel Fast is muesli. I use Bob’s Red Mill brand, which is widely available. I make it in just 5 minutes and then sometimes add chopped apples or bananas for sweetener. I also add a bit of rice milk. It’s quick, very nutritious and filling.
God bless you!

Thanks for the site. I am brand new to Daniel Fasting. This has encouarged me greatly. I have eaten no sugar and no dairy diets before. I am excited about this fast. I have been on in since Oct. 24. Our church is doing a 40 day fast concentrating on CA and the upcoming election.
I would like to know what is kelp powder and can it be used on the Daniel Fast?
Blessings,
Patty
Susan Gregory said,
October 10, 2008 at 8:39 am
Hi Patty,
Kelp is a natural product from the sea. It’s packed with vitamins and minerals and should be fine for the Daniel Fast. Be sure to read the ingredients as sometimes manufacturers add sugar, which is not allowed during the Daniel Fast.
Be blessed and thanks for your post!

Hi Cindy,
Thanks for your interest. Take a look at the recipes on this site. The Daniel Fast Cookbook has more of the same. In fact, there are enough Daniel Fast recipes for at least 21 days of breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks. Plus, there are meal plans for 21 days. The cookbook gets lots of compliments!
Be blessed!

Are Craisins by Ocean Spray just dried cranberries or do they add sugar?
Susan Gregory said,
November 5, 2008 at 7:42 pm
Hi Wendy,
Craisins are SO popular, but they are not allowed during the Daniel Fast since they have added sugar as an ingredient. On the other hand, raisins are okay, since there is no additional sugar added.
Thanks for the question! Have a great fast.

wondering if wheat crackers and wheat pasta?
Thanks,

Susan Gregory said,
November 10, 2008 at 10:12 am
Hi Baylee,
I think it’s so great that you are joining your family in the Daniel Fast and that you are serious about making it a true and meaningful experience. That shows a great deal of maturity!
The most important thing to remember when shopping for foods for the Daniel Fast is to READ THE LABELS. Look at the “ingredients” to make sure nothing is on the list that is not consistent with the fast. For example, many crackers have sweeteners (like sugar or honey), leavening or chemicals. All these are not allowed on the Daniel Fast. However, most rice cakes are just rice and water with a little salt, all of which are okay for the Daniel Fast.
The same goes for whole wheat pasta. Read the label to make sure it’s just whole wheat flour and water and not other items that may not be allowed.
I hope this helps and be blessed on your fast.

#1-I see you have soy sauce listed in some of the recipes (like for stir fry) in the cookbook. I have never seen natural or soy sauce w/o chemicals or additives. Any help?
#2- I also see that some recipes have olive oil and the recipe says to saute onions, peppers and etc. Isn’t this the same as frying?
#3- If possibe could you define frying?
#4- Are all spices considered organic or natural?
Thank you for your help.
Susan Gregory said,
December 26, 2008 at 6:21 am
Hi Todd,
I purchase a store brand of soy sauce (Kroger) that is sugar- and chemical-free. So it is possible to find a “Daniel Fast friendly” product. You can also look in health food stores if you are not able to find it at your grocery store.
The Daniel Fast does not allow “deep frying,” but to saute vegetables in a small amount of oil is acceptable. That’s why natural corn chips and natural potato chips are not allowed on the Daniel Fast – they are deep fried. However, a stir-fry vegan meal is fine . . .
And finely, pure spices are all acceptable on the Daniel Fast. Even some spice blends are allowed, but this is one of the places where people need to read the ingredient list. Food manufacturers often add sugar to spice blends, so read the ingredients to make sure they are okay.
I hope this helps! Be blessed on your fast.

Hi Susan,
I got ready to purchase the 2008 cookbook because I need to get started this weekend, and discovered that the only way to pay for it was with Paypal. I do not have an account with them, nor do I really want one, and would like to just pay with my credit card. Is that possible? Thanks!

Susan Gregory said,

Thanks for your quiestion Jeanne.
You do not need to have nor do you need to create a PayPal account to purchase the eBooks. Just go through the process and when you get to the PayPal page, you will notice an area for those who do not have or want accounts. You can just enter your payment information. PayPal will still process your transactoin, which is a good thing since they are the most trusted Internet transaction broker in the world. But they will not save your information . . . just process it.
Thanks so much!

Our Pastor has just called a 21 day fast – 2 ways – one being the Daniel Fast.
I desperately need recipes (definitely not a “wing it” type cook) including desserts – my husband requires them daily. Do you have any in either of your books?
I’m really looking forward to making this a lifestyle change (most of the time) It seems to include most foods we enjoy. Will definitely miss some i.e. cheese but a small price to pay to draw closer to God and improve health as well.
God Bless

Hi Susan. I just started the fast yesterday and am looking forward to it for so many different reasons. I do have a question about one of the recipes if you can help. On page 88 of the 2009 edition of the cookbook, the recipe for Creamy Corn Chowder calls for 2 1/2 cups of vegetable broth, but in the preparation instructions the recipe says nothing about the broth, but mentions bullion cubes. Can you please tell me how many cubes, and do I omit the broth?
Thanks!

Can we eat couscous?
Susan Gregory said,
January 8, 2009 at 9:00 pm
Hi Phoenix,
Yes, if it’s made from whole wheat. Couscous is actually a tiny pasta and made from flour and water. So you just need to make sure the flour is not processed. The ingredient list on the label will tell you! You might want to get your couscous in the Natural Foods section of the supermarket.
Be blessed!

Hi susan,
Im new to the daniel diet and was wondering if texas pete hotsauce is ok to eat on the daniel fast. Also, I was wondering about salad dressings like what kind I can eat and if the italian dressing from olive garden is ok? Thanks
Susan Gregory said,
January 22, 2009 at 3:45 pm
Hi Jennifer,
I am not familiar with Texas Pete Hotsauce, so I can only tell you to read the label and see what ingredients are included. Make sure they are consistent with the Daniel Fast Guidelines, which you can find at http://www.Daniel-Fast.com .
Also, you can make your own salad dressing or use Newman’s Own Oil and Vinegar Salad Dressing. You can take it with you into restaurants or use only oil and vinegar.
Be blessed on your fast.

Hi Susan
Me and my Church we started daniel fasting today 17 February 2009, I was trying to draft and plan my meals getting ideas from your website, it is somehow confusing that you mention a veges and fruit only fasting but at the same time in your recipes I see oatmeals, rice , beans and indian breads. Please assist I am determined to get it right for the sake of my spirituality, my well being and my relationship with God. I’ve done a lot of mistakes in the past both before and after being a Christian and it has left me with scars that I feel like the only answers to my scarred soul, spirit and body is commitment to God and nothing else, I am prepared like never before this year.
Thank you for allowing God to use you powerfully.

Hi Susan,
I’m starting the Daniel Fast in a week.
I was thinking of giving up coffee and sweets a week before to prepare my body for the shock. Do you think I should do this or is it best to just start at the time of the fast?
Thanks for your help!
Lou
Susan Gregory said,
February 24, 2009 at 11:10 am
Hi Lou,
You are VERY SMART to slowly taper off your sweets and caffeine intake before the Daniel Fast. Also, start drinking at least 1/2 gallon of filtered water each day. You will avoid many of the detox symptoms if you follow this practice.
I hope the very best for you on your fast!

I am a diabetic would this be a good fast for me?
Susan Gregory said,
July 1, 2009 at 5:54 am
Hi Cheryl,
You will want to check with your health provider to be sure that the fast would be okay considering your health needs; however, most people with diabetes find the fast to be a very positive move for their health conditions. Many are able to reduce their medications and find their blood sugar levels steady and healthy. The Daniel Fast is plant-based and the foods with their complex carbohydrates are much better for our bodies health.
If you need to make appropriate adjustments to the fast to meet your specific health needs, that would be okay. Remember that the power of the fast is no found in the foods eaten or not eaten, but rather submitting your whole being to your Father.
Be blessed!
