The Daniel Fast – will you see what the Lord wants to show you?

As I met with the Lord this morning, He showed me something that I want to share with you. It has to do with the condition of our hearts.

Psalm 44:21 tells us that God knows the secrets of our hearts. He knows us better than we know ourselves.

Too often we come to the Lord and ask Him to use us for His purposes. We ask Him to make in us a clean heart. It’s like walking up to the Lord, but meanwhile behind us we are dragging lots of baggage. Some of the contents we know, but it’s very likely that most of the “stuff” is invisible to us.

So then the Lord says, “Yes, I want to use you! So let’s get you ready for service. How about getting rid of that stuff that’s dragging behind you and keeping you from running the race with top speed?”

This message often comes to us when we knowingly disobey Him or when our emotions are filled with fear, anxiety or unforgiveness. It might be when we collide with our own unhealthy attitudes or behaviors.

These are all times when we can humbly come to the Lord and allow Him so show us the secrets in our heart. He is our loving Father. He wants only good for us. And we can trust Him.

I hope this thought is helpful to you . . . our Father wants us well so we can be all He created us to be!

Be blessed as you continue to grow in the love and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ!

In Him and for Him,

  1. I’m not sure of the ingredients. The cornstarch would be okay. But check out the other ingredients to make sure they are within the allowable foods.

    Be blessed!

God knows where you are. The fast is a weapon against your enemy. I biind Satan and his stronghold on your will. Be loosed and free to obey what the Spirit shows you to do. Get in the word. Eph. 5:22 and following and !st Peter 3 are excellent scriptures to meditate regarding your marriage. As we yeild to God first, it is possible to become a true helpmeet, even to a man who is tormented witih doubt. I pray for the Holy Spirit to strengthen you and for you to take a small step today, trusting Jesus to carry your burden. I pray for joy to rise up in your heart and for praise to come out of your heart and mouth to God

I am so thankful for this fast. I am seeking with all my heart to get rid of the unbelief in my life that manifests as depression, insecurity, fear. I am longing to be excellent in my everyday work at home–both inside and outside. Even more important to me is that my heart be free from guile. Please pray for me.

Increase your water intake. These symptoms (headaches, fatigue, cramps, joint pain to name a few) will pass in a few days (3-7) OR more. The more extreme the buildup of the toxins (from caffeine, additives and sweeteners, etc.) in your body, the more extreme your symptoms will be and length of time to complete your detox. Meanwhile, flushing your system with water will ease your discomfort and speed up the detox process. As a general guideline, your body needs half its body weight in ounces of water per day, ie: 160lbs = 80 oz. of water daily. Add to that amount if you are experiencing any extreme conditions such as exposure to warm weather, cold weather, physical exercise or Detox. So, drink lot’s of Water to ease your discomfort! Also, eat plenty of Protein Rich Foods: All Nuts and Peanut butter (any nut butters), Whole grains, Legumes and Leafy Dark Green Vegetables, to learn more go to: http://vegetarian.about.com/od/healthnutrition/tp/protein.htm And yes, take medication if needed. Be blessed on your fast!

This is my day seven on the Daniel Fast and it has been a challenge for me which is ironic because I am a vegetarian. The most difficult part for me is the coffee. I have had a headache every day and even now as I am writing this. I am fasting for a very specific break through from the Lord, and I know that the devil is working overtime to tempt me to break this fast. My sister completed the fast last month and she is praying for me which has really helped.

    Hi Paula,
A word I received from the Lord many years ago that I have drawn on for strength many times over the years was “Do not let other peoples poor behavior toward you keep you from going on in the calling I have for You”. (For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable Romans 11:29), so I pass this on to you. I encourage you to Repent for what is yours to repent over, Accept the forgiveness and cleansing the Lord has paid the price for you to receive, Forgive everyone that has treated you wrongfully and hurt you (including your husband), and continue on in the high calling of God for your life. When you seek God through fasting and prayer you are posturing yourself for breakthrough, to hear and receive from the throne of God All He has for you! God is going to do great things in you and through you, you just keep your eyes on Him and not the circumstances or the past (they are subject to change), and watch what He will do! Your husband is obviously struggling with a stronghold of some sort, this could be spiritual or physical (depression, chemical imbalance, resisting God in his life, etc). We are standing in agreement with you that All that the enemy has meant for evil, God will turn for good, to cause you to increase, prosper And to thrive in the place where He has called you occupy, subdue and dominate, In Jesus Strong Name! I encourage you to read out loud your covenant promises and let them be your declaration: Deut. 28:1-14, Ephesians 1:17-24, Rev. 12:11, Jer. 29:11 Be Blessed on your Journey!

I successfully completed the Daniel Fast almost 2 years ago. It was such a blessing in my life and I ended up following His lead and did the fast for 3 consectutive cycles. I never felt better. The clarity and wisdom was amazing and God provided such blessings during that time. Following His lead, my husband and I made several positive changes for our family. However, over the past several months, without warning, my husband has become very bitter, angry and uncertain. He is lost; though he tries to seek God and wise council; when the answers are not what he wants to hear, he pushes those away, myself included; and seeks elsewhere. I have been feeling the prompting for over 6 months to begin the fast again; unfortunately, I have not been obedient to Him and can’t seem to become disciplined enough to begin. Whenever, I seem to become encouraged and hopeful, my husband will say something negative, hurtful and discouraging. I end up falling into a endless spiral and fail at starting. My husband’s uncertainty about life and our family’s future is debilitating to me at times. I suppose I am looking for support and words of encouragement to help lead me onto the right path. I know that the Lord is faithful and that ALL things are possible through Him. Thank you and Be Blessed.

I don’t use soy butter, so I am not sure of the ingredients. That’s the key issue. Check the label for the ingredients. If it is free of sugar, chemicals and other substances not allowed on the Daniel Fast, then it should be fine.

  14. Hi!

I am so happy you are joining the fast. It’s a powerful experience.

I suggest you add appropriate portions of lean chicken or fish and also low-fat dairy. As a nursing mother, you are in the “special diet” category. Do the rest of the fast as it is (be sure to follow it as I teach it here as there is a lot of erroneous teaching and can actually be harmful to some).

Also, the sugar in the pasta is in the nutritional analysis and is not an added ingredient, so it’s fine for your fast.

    Be blessed!
